Born 2,437 years before his first meeting with Connor MacLeod, Juan Sanchez Villa-Lobos
Ramirez was the Chief Metallurgist to King Charles the V of Spain. Although he comes
across as a Spaniard, he admits to being an Egyptian. He has been married 3 times. His
last wife was a Japanese princess named Shakito. Her father, Masanume, was a genius at
sword-making. It was he who forged the katana sword that Ramirez wielded......the sword he
eventually gave to Connor MacLeod.
Ramirez sought out MacLeod after learning of his first battle with the Kurgan. It seems
that Ramirez had faced the Kurgan before. He realized that if the Kurgan were to win the
Prize, all of humanity would suffer. To prevent this from happening, Ramirez prepared
Connor for the next time the Highlander had to face the Kurgan again. He taught him how to
properly fight with a sword. The question of whether MacLeod was the first Immortal
Ramirez trained, remains a mystery. It would seem that the more Immortals Ramirez
recruited, the less chance the Kurgan would have to win the Prize.*
Ramirez is portrayed by actor, Sean Connery ( "James Bond series", "The
Untouchables", "The Hunt for Red October" ).
